MARK BULEY

WOOD

My first shop was named C.F.D. Woodworks in reference to “Well building hath three conditions Commodity, Firmness, and Delight”  Sir Henry Wotton, 1624.  These are still the principles that guide my work: Commodity is usefulness, as in accommodates the function; Firmness is to construct with strength and durability; and Delight, needs no further explanation–you’ll know when you see it.

I like to use local hardwoods: ash, white oak, and red elm. The closer from a walk in the woods to the shop door, the better.
