DAVID and JENEICE HAESSIG

WOOD

DHH Designs

In 1994, we moved from the Madison, WI area to the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  Inspired by the trees that surround our studio we design and create unique functional and sculptural items made of wood.

David is a self-taught woodworker who began his career as a woodworker in 1976, building custom furniture.  From there he started making sculptural and functional pieces.  Eventually, David taught Jeneice about the feel of working with wood.  They have exhibited their artwork at Fine Art and Craft Fairs around the country.

Creativity is a gift and the reflection of a designer.  Plus, the incredible beauty of design in nature which inspires us as an artist.  We’re particularly fascinated by the possibilities, complexity and fluidity of spalted woods, as well as the infinite combinations in geometric patterns and vivid contrasts of domestic and exotic hardwoods.

Wood art is the tree that never dies.  Be it as functional as a wooden cutting board or a sculptural creation.  Our art is interactive and draws hands to experience its warmth through touch.

Wood must be “read” in order to cut and present it in the most dramatic way for the intended impression.  Arranging combinations and contrasts to appear natural or complimentary is always a goal.

Each unique wooden piece is highly polished with a natural finish.  They are made to be enjoyed and last for years to come.  David and Jeneice have developed a wonderful relationship with wood and we hope you enjoy their creations.
