LINDA MIX YATES

GLASS

Linda Mix was born in St. Paul, MN and spent her childhood in St. Paul and Roseville. Linda knew from an early age she wanted to be an artist and spent much of her youth exploring all media including clay, fiber, and watercolor. Linda studied at the University of Minnesota and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Studies. In 1994, Linda started a part-time "craft" business selling mosaic and stained glass gift items at local art fairs. After managing multiple jobs and the business for several years, Linda decided to give full-time a try. In 2007, Linda joined the WARM Mentor program and had the opportunity to work with a woman artist who was also a veteran of art fairs. It was during their time together that Linda began to develop her voice through her work and embraced "artist" for the first time. Since then, Linda has had the opportunity of many art fairs, married her long time neighbor, and has embarked upon a career in Occupational Therapy, helping others learn and heal through doing. Linda will always be an artist and will always be doing art, all be it at a different scale and with a different purpose.
